Hi! I’m Celia. I am a patient at Blossom Bariatrics and I had the gastric sleeve September 9th of last year (2014). I have to say that this was the best decision I ever made and I can’t believe that I wasted 10 years not doing this. Dr. Umbach literally saved my life and gave me back everything that my illnesses took from me because of my obesity. I was in heart failure. My thyroid had shut down and I was over 287 lbs; I’m 5’7″, so I was morbidly obese.
This is my six month appointment and I have lost 78 lbs total since the beginning of my journey–60 of it since surgery.
Before surgery I could barely walk up and down the stairs of my house and I could not take my kids to the park or play with my sweet 10 year old daughter without feeling like I was suffocating.
I go to the gym every day; I take Zumba classes–usually 2-3 classes a day. That means that I do three hours of cardio every day. I also get on the treadmill and I can run for more than 2 hours. I play sports. I play with my kids. I go swimming.
I think my greatest joy is going shopping. I used to only be able to go to plus-sized stores, like Lane Bryant, and now I can go to any store I want and buy regular sized clothes. I went from a size 24 pants, size 4X tops, to a large top and a size 12-14 pants and it only took me six months.
It was really hard, but it was totally worth it and I would recommend Blossom Bariatrics to anybody.
This is the only surgery center that I know that is all-inclusive. What that means is that they do everything; they take care of your nutrition, they take care of the surgery, they do everything here and I had the best after-care. I had to have vitamin infusions the first six weeks, because I got really, really sick, and they were all done at no cost to me for the first three months after surgery.
So, yes! This is the best place. This is the best decision I have ever made and I finally have my life back!
