Q: What made you decide to get into bariatric surgery?
A: I became interested in bariatric surgery when I was a general surgery resident. I spent a year during my residency as a research fellow in bariatric surgery where I was able to learn about the pathophysiology of obesity and the complexity of the disease. As I was completing my training as a surgeon, I spend a lot of time with patients and I saw firsthand the negative effects of obesity. I became determined to make a difference where I could, and as a bariatric surgeon, I felt that I could use my skills to help others obtain a healthier life.
Q: Why Blossom Bariatrics?
A: That’s easy – the people and culture. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it’s not easy to find people who are genuinely interested in their patients, the quality of care they provide, and maintaining a positive work environment. At Blossom, the passion for others is strong as well as the level of service. In addition, you’ll always hear the mention of “family,” and at Blossom that means the family with whom you work. Without my immediate family close, it was wonderful to find such a welcoming group.
Q: Did you ever think you would live in Las Vegas? What do you think about it?
A: Honestly? No. I’ve never lived out West and have only been here to visit friends and on vacation. I’ve always thought of Las Vegas as a destination to visit. Only when I became interested in Blossom Bariatrics did I realize the full potential that Las Vegas has to offer! I grew up around the Midwest and let me tell you, I do NOT like the cold. This city has all the amenities I could want and still has a small town feel. There are also a lot – and I mean a lot – of outdoor recreational activities here. With the weather so great, I’m really looking forward to living here! As a bonus, can you guess how many people now want to visit me?
Q: Describe what it’s like working alongside Dr. Tom & Dr. Matt
A: Exhilarating! They are each unique surgeons that share a common goal. Working with them is lively and intellectually stimulating. I know we will make a great trio.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time, when you have some?
A: I really enjoy being outside, whether it means running and hiking, or just laying out by the pool. And I love spending time with family and friends. In my free time, I am also teaching my husband how to speak Ukrainian.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself for our current and potential clients?
A: Just that I’m very excited and honored to be a part of Blossom Bariatrics. After moving around the country for all my training, I’m ready to plant my feet in the ground and start working! I’m looking forward to meeting new people and upholding the amazing Blossom Bariatrics name!
