Before surgery I was very heavy, obviously and I was extremely depressed and I hated my life. I hated my family. It was very…I was a completely different person on the inside and I was sad. I was just kind of at my last resort and I contacted Dr. Umbach’s office.
I am a completely new person inside and out I’m still working on, but inside I love myself and that was the biggest thing. It was more in a sense mental for me, I guess, emotional.
I feel brand new. I have energy. I have three-year-old twin boys that I’m trying to keep up with, and I couldn’t keep up with them, and I didn’t want to do things with them and I just wanted to lay around and just be left alone. I didn’t motivate and I couldn’t motivate and I was depressing. Now I’m out and on the go with the boys all the time.
My last known weight prior to surgery was 246. However, I’m pretty sure I went over that once I got the approval, I think I kind of went a little nuts, I don’t know, scare of, you know, whatever.
Now four months later I’m down 50 pounds. So, it’s amazing, you know, every transition, every ten pounds that you lose is a new transition and it just motivates me even more. It’s really exciting.
I watch patients come in and I see them a year later and they look fantastic, just phenomenal and I can’t wait to see myself in a year and to see how I’m going to, you know, what’s going to be the final chapter.
The word to describe Dr. Umbach is genuine and he genuinely cares about his patients and it comes from the heart. I think that’s very hard to find, whether you’re a doctor or you have an office job, or you’re a lawyer, or whatever the case my be, but he is a true human being and he cares about his staff and his patients and it means a lot.
I was tired of not loving myself and I wanted to know what that felt like and the surgery made me love myself again.
There was a point at my old job, before I came to Blossom, a coworker had mentioned to me, I know Dr. Umbach removed a portion of your stomach; however, it’s like he removed something else as well, and that something else, I think was my negativity and my self loathing and the depressed person that I was, because she’s gone…gone.
Now I’m really happy and I love myself and it’s really exciting.
