Navigating Weight Loss Injections

Understanding the risks and side effects of these medications, and comparing with our proven weight loss surgery options.

Our Initial Thoughts

Blossom is very excited by the advancement in the efficacy of these medications, we want to make sure everyone approaches the medications with a full understanding of what to expect, costs, side effects, and make sure their expectations are in line with the available literature. Our intent is not to instill fear of these medications, as they can be very beneficial to clients who do not have a lot of excess weight to lose, but maintaining weight loss with these medications can prove to be difficult.

Expected Weight Loss

  • Clients who start a weight loss injection, hope to lose up to 20-25% of their total weight over the course of 68 weeks.
  • This represents the BEST responders, and not everyone loses the 20-25%. Many patients we’ve seen lose a bit when they first start the medications, but the weight loss tapers off early in the process despite stepwise increase in the dosing.
  • The average weight loss is in the 10-15% range when looking at the newer medications in general.

Compare Blossom Bariatrics Safe Sleeve® Procedure

Over the years, Dr. Tom has perfected the Patented Safe Sleeve® – a unique and safer way to perform a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. The Safe Sleeve is performed laparoscopically and on an outpatient basis and only performed by Dr. Tom or his professionally trained surgeons at Blossom Bariatrics.

Blossom has had thousands of clients who have achieved long term success after weight loss surgery. While these medications can be enticing to try, and show short term results, weight loss surgery is still the best option for long term weight management.

Weight loss surgery still the best option for some with obesity

New weight-loss drugs are getting all the hype, but bariatric surgery is still the “gold standard” for treating obesity.
