My name is Jen and I am three weeks out from surgery with Dr. Umbach here at the surgery center. My experience has been incredibly positive.
I have been considering weight loss surgery for eight or nine years and it seemed a little scary at first. The word surgery is a little bit scary. Now that I am on the other side of it I realize how simple the process was and I am grateful for that.
There was a lot of intimidation at first and I realize that that was just my own anxiety and that was something that the staff here at the office helped to alleviate. The entire staff is incredibly well versed in the procedures here and what needs to go on. I never felt embarrassed to ask a question and I never felt like a question was stupid or shouldn’t be asked if I wanted to know it. From everybody that was from the receptionist all the way up to the surgeon.
On the day of surgery I was nervous but, I really had no need to be. The surgery center is very calming and I know this sounds silly but, I felt more like a person than a patient.
The hospital said it can sometimes be a little intimidating and a little impersonal. That was not how I felt.
I felt taken care of every step of the way. There was always someone by my side, whether it was the nurse, or the doctor, or my surgical coordinator. Really the only time I was left alone was when I was just reading my own book, silently waiting to go in to surgery.
It was a great experience. It was so much less than what I thought it was going to be, as far as anxiety goes.
So, I guess my only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner.
I am glad that it happened in the time frame that it happened because that allowed me to find Dr. Umbach and his staff and that was a good match for me.
So I recommend them highly. I am three weeks out from my surgery and I weighed myself this morning and I am about 25 pounds down so far, in three weeks, but obviously your mileage may vary.
I certainly recommend Dr. Umbach to anybody.
